Welcome!

I have been wanting to start a recipe club for the longest time, but somehow it just hasn't happened.  I've been too busy with my kids, their school, and life in general, so I'm excited that this is finally happening!  So welcome!  Thanks for agreeing to do this with me!

Here's a little insight as to how my brain has been working.  When I was thinking about who to invite, I obviously wanted to include friends who I knew well, but also people who I wanted to get to know better!  I wanted to have time once a month without my kids to reconnect with my friends.  I wanted to include people who love to cook, or would love to cook if they had the time.  I wanted to have this one meal together be a reason to make something special!  Be a little daring, and make something out of your comfort zone if you like, or come with a favorite to share with our group!  And if you make something during the month that you think we should all try, add it to our blog!  I might clean things up a little here and there, but I will be adding you all as authors.

Speaking of our blog.  Some groups print up their recipes and share them at their luncheon.  I've found myself in front of my computer reading recipes off some of my favorite blogs and websites, so if it works for you, we will be sharing our recipes through this forum.  It's going to be private, so if something totally bombs, let us know!  Maybe a tsp turned into a TBS!  Also, if you can try to post your recipes within a day or two of our meeting so that we can all share, that would be great.

I can't wait to see you all on Thursday at 11:00!  This month we are keeping it simple.  Maybe not very cohesive, but hopefully fun.  Bring something you can share and tell a story about.  Is it a family tradition, a recipe you picked up on a vacation, a flavor you love because of a fun memory?  It's all about you.  In order to not have 10 salads, it would be great to leave a comment and let us know what you are bringing.  Since I'm hosting, I've got a main dish, but I couldn't pass up my Thanksgiving Salad.

This one can be easy or complex, and most of all fun. See you Thursday!

  2. I am making my favorite "treat" from when I was young. Oatmeal Bars...but don't let the oatmeal fool you! There is nothing healthy about these babies!
